To my surprise, a couple of weeks ago I came across an Ebay auction for a set of painted Brigade Games Gnomes (for playing Gnome Wars) which I absolutely love and have a growing collection to game with. You don’t find these minis on the used market very often and unfortunately the listing was over, but it ended without a winner. The lister was a hobby store which I contacted and later made a purchase from. This collection of gnomes consisted of Germans, Swiss and Sikhs. Their paint jobs were not exactly my cup of tea, but not so far gone that they require a strip down to bare metal so I’ve taken to a touch up method.
Here’s the before picture of the unit of Swiss…
When I paint similar miniatures especially with uniforms, I do employ an assembly line method where I paint a group of 5 or so, color by color. Before attempting to paint a complete unit I will paint a single mini to completion; to serve as a model for the others in the unit. This blunderbuss gnome will be the model for the rest of his unit.
He needs a base, but I’ve run out of the 25mm round bases that I use to base my gnomes with. This is my first posting of a miniature that I’ve painted. Wow, when you photograph your minis, you really see all of the imperfections, but I know when its on the tabletop the paint job will look clean, bright and ready for battle.
Up next, I’ll be posting a reworked Sikh gnome model that I’m currently working on.
